Meetings

Indoor Meetings 2025-2026

 

These comprise a mixture of illustrated talks and members’ evenings, where members are encouraged to bring along items of natural history interest, brief presentations etc.

 

They are held between October and April in the upstairs room of ​Cobham Village Hall, Lushington Drive, Cobham KT11 2LU. There is ample free parking, and tea and coffee are provided (50p charge for refreshments). (Please try to bring along correct amount). Meetings start at 8pm and finish by 10pm.

Non-members are welcome to all indoor meetings unless otherwise stated (£3.00 charge on the door, refundable if you join the Society).

​

Meetings also include our Annual General Meeting in April, when the ENHS Committee is elected.

​

Wed 12 Nov -  The adaptability of bryophytes. Talk by Joan Bingley, ENHS and British Bryological Society member.

 

Wed 10 Dec -  Members' evening with mince pies and Christmas cheer! Bring along any short
presentations, items of interest etc. to share. Members may also like to bring along
any unwanted books etc to pass on, in return for a donation to the Society.

 

Wed 11 Feb  – Monstrous mushrooms and quirky toadstools. A brief look at oddball fungi. Talk by Dr Brian Spooner, formerly of Kew Gardens.

 

Wed 11 Mar  - Changing butterfly trends in Surrey. Talk by Bill Downey, Butterfly Conservation.

 

Wed 8 Apr  - AGM followed by a roundup on the Esher Commons by Dave Page.

Sun 11 Jan - New Year bird walk around the Wey Meadows, 11am, followed by lunch at the Queen’s Head in Weybridge. Details tbc via email.

 


Study walks start at 10.0 am and are led by Dave Page, unless otherwise indicated.  They last approximately 2 hours,
